Billboard & Radio Campaign Alerts Community
To Signs of Family Violence and Resources for help

Tubman Family Alliance has launched a metro-wide public service campaign to engage community members in the effort to stop family violence. Clear Channel Communications and Go East donated more than $280,000 worth of advertising, radio spots, and design services to help spread the message that yelling, threatening, bullying and, of course, hitting are unacceptable.

Over 100 billboards throughout the Twin Cities will feature four simple messages against a green background. The messages are: Stop Yelling. Stop Threatening. Stop Hitting. Stop Bullies. The billboards alert readers to visit the website StopFamilyViolence.com for helpful resources. Over 30 other Minnesota-based violence prevention service providers are featured with Web links at StopFamilyViolence.com. In addition, radio spots with similar messages will broadcast on Clear Channel and other stations throughout the Twin Cities area.

"Whether it's your daughter, sister, son, or brother, we all must take an active role in ending this epidemic in our communities," said Beverly Dusso, executive director of Tubman Family Alliance. "If you worry about someone you know, talk to them. Let them know there are places to go for help," Dusso added.

Mick Anselmo, regional vice president, Clear Channel Radio Minneapolis-Saint Paul, said, " We are extremely proud of our partnership with Tubman to spread the message that we all must work to stop family violence."

In addition, billboards with the same message will be featured in Spanish in some Twin Cities neighborhoods. Tubman Family Alliance, a leader in family violence prevention nationwide, offers a full range of services to all members of the community-men, women, and children-with the aim of preventing and ending family violence. Services in Hennepin, Washington, and suburban Ramsey counties include a 24-hour help line, legal advocacy, three crisis shelters, youth and family support services, transitional support services, and counseling services.
