TUBMAN AND CHRYSALIS TO MERGE OPERATIONS
New entity will bring together support for domestic violence
and chemical and mental health

Minneapolis, MN (May 23, 2007) - Tubman Family Alliance and Chrysalis, two long-time Twin Cities nonprofits, will merge operations to better and more effectively serve women, families and our communities. Earlier this week, the boards of both organizations approved the merger, which will officially go into effect July 1.

The distinct services of Tubman, established in 1977, and Chrysalis, founded in 1973 , have complemented each other for over 30 years. By bringing together Tubman's work in domestic violence prevention and Chrysalis' chemical dependency and mental health programs, this merged agency can now maximize direct support for those in need in new and extraordinary ways.

"Separately, each of our agencies are known for delivering quality services while remaining responsive to the changing environment. Together, we will be able to respond even more effectively with combined resources and a full-range of services to help women and families achieve safe and healthy lives," said Tubman Executive Director Beverly Dusso, who will lead the merged organization.

Chrysalis, with an annual budget of $4 Million and a 45-member staff, serves women, girls and families in four core areas: mental health, chemical health, children's services and education, law and support. Chrysalis' office is located in South Minneapolis.

Tubman Family Alliance, with a $7 Million budget and a 125-member staff, serves men, women and children with legal support, counseling, violence prevention education and short-term safe housing for women and children. Tubman has facilities in Minneapolis, Lake Elmo and St. Paul Park.
