Am I being abusive?

Family violence is not only about hitting, punching, or yelling, and it's not just about anger. It is about a lack of balance of power and control in yourself and your relationships.

Any member of a family can be responsible for violence. And any member of the family can be a victim. Adults, children, and even grandparents may be victims of violence. Every family member suffers from violence in the family.

Many times relationships are challenged in a variety of ways that can cause great stress and frustration. If you feel as though you may not be handling these pressures in a healthy manner you may need help. To begin your self-assessment, understand how violence begins. Consider the different kinds of abuse. Think about the things you can do to have a non-abusive relationship. And look into ways to get the right kind of help for your situation.
